Limited Edition Illustration of Huia Print.
The last official sighting of the sacred Huia was in 1907, however the demise of this extraordinary bird was set in motion in 1901 when the Duke of York (significance of the white rose) paid a visit to our shores. During a welcoming at Whakawerawera a Huia feather, reserved for visitors of importance, was placed in the hatband of his bowler hat - setting off a series of events that eventually sealed the fate of this beautiful bird.
